Earth – Muladhara

You have to get down to earth, down to the root of things. The deeper the roots, the higher you can reach. 

Muladhara means ‘root support’. The first chakra gives you the foundation, support and nourishment that are necessary for survival – the first challenge in the game of life.

When the earth chakra is balanced and open, you’ll feel stable and grounded in your daily activities. Our survival is primary, it will regulate our thoughts and actions, the movement of our blood and muscles and all our available energy when necessary to keep our body alive & safe. We can identify with the needs of our body. We know when we’re hungry or tired, when we need to stretch or sit still. And where our body is in physical space.

Physical identity is important for survival, and when we feel safe and secure, it’ll move into the background of our consciousness and allow us to think about other things. 

Our body is the vehicle we’ve been given to take the journey through life. We only get one per lifetime, so we have to care for it. It’s the only thing we know we will have for the rest of our time on earth.

The mind may rationalize and believe things that aren’t true, but the body never lies. It contains a grain of truth that is undeniable. Our ability to be stable and prosperous, to be present, to set boundaries – to have enough and to know when we have enough.
